No matter how much work experience you have or how great you have done at all your previous positions, if you don't do a good job of selling yourself you will not get the job you want. That is were the resume and cover letter come in.
So many people take so little time with their cover letter when that is the very first impression a potential employer will have of you. We offer some great cover letter writing tips and cover letter examples.
The resume is your opportunity to display to an employer why they want to bring you in for an interview. Unfortunately most people truly don't know how to write a good resume. "How many pages should my resume be?" or "Can I use the same resume for every job I apply for?" are all common questions with many different answers dependant on your experience and employment situation. But we can help you answer those questions with our resume writing tips and different resume formats.
You have taken the time to find jobs you are qualified for but also fulfill your needs, networked, applied, followed up and landed the interview. Now it is time to meet the potential employer face to face.
This is where people can really blow it. Here you will find valuable information from proper job interview attire to actual common job interview questions and answers. So the next time a potential employer asks you the question "Why should we hire you?" you will know what to say. I have gotten jobs that I was completely under qualified for because of how well I interview.
Is it possible that a job may already be there but you have just not followed up on it? I have worked for many companies in my time and interviewed a lot of people. If I was ever down to two candidates for one position and couldn't decide who to hire I always hired the applicant that sent me a thank you letter. Good professional follow up is becoming a lost art and can be that little extra bit that changes you from unemployed to employed. After working so hard and getting so far in the job hunting process why leave it to fate. Write that thank you letter and pick up that phone and see what happens. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. |
