Data entry is a very realistic way to make money working from home. The reality is that many companies have mundane data entry jobs that need to be done. Companies generally see the value in outsourcing data entry jobs because of the financial savings to them. Instead of having a skilled employee that they are paying a salary and benefits completing data entry tasks that generally don't require any specialized skills except for the abilities of being able to type and use a computer. They can have someone working from home doing data entry that they pay per completed project. Saving the organization significant money.

Data entry jobs that need to be completed are normally entered into very common data base programs like Excel or Quick Books that  come with any computer using a Windows based operating system. This makes the cost for the person looking to do data entry working from home minimal to none existent.

So how does a person go about finding a work at home data entry position? There are two strategies that I recommend utilizing to find a data entry position working from home. The first strategy is absolutely free but takes some time and effort. The second strategy to find a work at home data entry position does require a very small financial investment but takes much less work and time to get results. I am not recommending one strategy over an other to find a work from home data entry position because it ultimately comes down to what is the best fit for the job seeker.

Below are the the two strategies that I have used over the years to find data entry position working from home to great effect. Both are not silver bullets, you will have to put some effort into finding real legitimate data entry work.

The first strategy I recommend to find a work at home data entry is that of using a service like Go Freelance. A service like this is NOT free. Go Freelance is a job board for freelance projects. Companies looking to fill freelance ( work at home ) jobs post there openings ( some being administrative and data entry ). The members of Go Freelance bid on the opportunities and the employer chooses who they want to fill the work at home position. I have used Go Freelance in the past to both find work at home positions for myself but to also fill data entry positions and highly recommend them.

The second strategy to find a work at home position doing data entry is a little bit old fashioned but very effective and absolutely free. The first two things you are going to need is a cover letter and a resume. The next step in finding your work at home data entry position is to start sending out your letter and resume. By using resources like Monster.com, Careerbuilder.com, Hotjobs.com and Craigslist.org you can find data entry positions absolutely free. The challenge will be that very few of the data entry positions posted on these boards will be for work at home positions. You need to put together a high quality cover letter selling them on the value and financial savings to them of utilizing a person working from home to complete their data entry tasks. If you send out 200 emails to organizations regarding outsourcing their data entry needs to someone working from home and two companies respond, you win and it cost you absolutely no money. This strategy while highly effective and free does take an investment of time and real effort to land a work at home data entry position.

Real legitimate work at home data entry positions do exist! I've obtained multiple work at home data entry positions using the strategies outlined above. Are there data entry work at home scams out there? Absolutely! To avoid these data entry scams all you need to do is follow a general rule when evaluating work at home data entry "opportunities"; If it sounds to good to be true, it probably is.
